How We Built Britain opening title sequence | The Art of the Title Sequence

A tangle of utility in both architecture and typography offers a fascinatingly structured title sequence for the BBC’s “How We Built Britain” that bespeaks an acquisitive England. The artificial monuments of type seem proportionally sound, the final title card an achievement of engineering.

Phonetikana - the johnson banks thought for the week

Multiple trips to Japan and constant frustration at being unable to read the language has sparked off an unusual typographic project at johnson banks. Earlier in the year we started seeing if we could combine the English language and Japanese script in some way.

"La typographie est fondamentalement ancrée dans la culture de l’imprimé mais tend de plus en plus à devenir une spécialité graphique plutôt qu’un métier à part entière. Trois questions : qu’en est-il de la typographie transposée dans l’environnement web ? comment améliorer la lisibilité visuelle des textes en ligne (micro-typographie) ? et comment composer des sites web qui facilitent la lecture cognitive (macro-typographie) ?"

LA MAISON D’ÉRASME - Expo

Thierry Martens, avec Jean de Westphalie, a imprimé le premier ouvrage dans les Pays-Bas Bourguignons en 1473. Il a été un grand innovateur au niveau de l'introduction des caractères dans les Pays-Bas. Il a été le premier à publier avec des caractères en italique, en grec et en hébreu et à généraliser l'utilisation du romain. L'exposition présente différentes facettes de son parcours et insiste sur ses rapports avec les humanistes, et particulièrement Erasme.
