"米グーグル(GOOG.O: 株価, 企業情報, レポート)は１日、石炭や石油による火力発電を２０３０年までに米国からなくし、自動車向けの石油消費量も４０％削減するという計画を明らかにした。
グーグルは同社の社会貢献部門である「Ｇｏｏｇｌｅ．Ｏｒｇ」を通じて、風力や太陽光などのクリーンエネルギー関連事業に出資しており、今年度の投資額も４５００万ドル（約４７億円）に上る。
今回の計画実行には、巨額のコストがかかると見られるが、グーグルのシュミット最高経営責任者（ＣＥＯ）は、こうした努力が同社のブランドにメリットをもたらすという考えを示した。"
